Retrovesical cysts in boys—case series and literature review

Abstract Background Retrovesical cysts present with varying etiologies. We initiated this study to provide insights into retrovesical in boys through a case series and systematic literature review aid treatment alternatives. Materials methods Case of seven patients from the in-hospital register on children. Results identified during 2005–2020 eighty-two review. The showed that children’s are mainly asymptomatic before puberty. Those detected earlier childhood mostly renal abnormalities. In our series, derived three distinct etiologies different modalities. Asymptomatic do not need excision be followed up puberty, but an ectopic ureter, nephroureterectomy is optional. Symptomatic may demand surgical excision. Ultrasonography usually sufficient for diagnosis, MRI provides better anatomical delineation aids planning. Conclusions benign conditions associated abnormal development ureter kidney. giving further detail Treatment consists cyst excision, heminephrectomy/nephrectomy, transurethral canalization, or prostatic utricle, depending etiology. cases preferred.
